Windows Vista
Après des reports à répétition, les développeurs vont enfin pouvoir tester une version du nouveau système d'exploitation de Microsoft, Windows Vista (ex-Longhorn) dès ce 27 juillet. Cette version américaine ne sera diffusée dans un premier temps qu'auprès d'un cercle très restreint de bêta-testeurs (développeurs ou administrateurs grands comptes). Le choix de cette date n'est pas neutre, puisque le 28 juillet se tiendra la rencontre annuelle de Microsoft avec les analystes financiers. Les développeurs et les informaticiens abonnés à MSDN et à Technet devront, pour leur part, attendre le 3 août pour pouvoir la télécharger.
